About our founder
The Fashion Cultures Club was founded by lecturer and creative Omolara Obanishola MA, PGCE, BA (Hons).
Omolara holds a Masters with distinction in Fashion History and Cultures from London College of Fashion and previously taught contextual studies at The Fashion Retail Academy, yet the topic and its relation to traditional subjects is not usually taught prior to post-graduate study; until the launch of The Fashion Cultures Club in 2020 - providing tailored education and guidance to those interested in the creative industries.
Omolara has worked in the fashion and creative industries for almost two decades covering visual merchandising (window displays and in-store layouts) styling, photography and production for fashion editorials and music videos. She has worked for global retailers, performers and musicians bringing creative concepts to realisation alongside developing content for festivals and museums.
Previously Course Leader for the Foundation in Art and Design and the Access to Higher Education in Art and Design at University for the Creative Arts, Omolara has taught at Kingston University, London College of Fashion, Central st. Martins, The Fashion Retail Academy and across the Further Education sector; she currently works as a senior manager responsible for curriculum development within academic support at Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts, London.
Bringing together significant industry experience and over seven years leading and managing fashion and creative courses, The Fashion Cultures Club offers subject specific teaching to our members and guidance on creative education and progression into Higher Education for parents and carers.
